bio

waterloo is mark ray (vox guitars piano keyboards); chris grabau (lead guitars vox); dave melson (bass); john baldus (drums percussion). the band was formed in 1998 primarily as a recording project, a vehicle for mark ray’s songs expressed through the playing and arrangements of all four individual members. the music evokes a love/hate relationship with the american midwest–its open roads, hazy summers, lonely winters, troubled politics, family ties, and roots in this good earth. beneath that can be heard a penchant for the atmosphere and charged emotion of british guitar rock. waterloo rarely plays live, choosing to play select dates for a small but fiercely loyal base of fans and friends.
